1. Overview

Omphalis is an AI-powered content-understanding platform operated by Voxiven LLC. Omphalis helps users deeply engage with articles, PDFs, podcasts, videos, newsletters, web pages, meeting transcripts, voice notes, and other long-form content.

Our services include:

  • Content extraction and cleaning
  • Structural analysis of long-form content
  • Intelligent annotations and comprehension layers
  • Search and discovery across a user's library
  • Contextual connections between saved content and user-marked insights
  • Feed, newsletter, podcast, and YouTube subscriptions
  • On-demand audio generation and listening features
  • Connections to outside assistants through MCP and similar integrations

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, how we protect it, and the rights available to you.

Key principle: You own the content and insights you place in Omphalis. We process that information to provide and improve your personal Omphalis experience. We do not sell your data or use your content to build advertising profiles.

Voxiven LLC acts as the data controller for personal data processed in connection with account administration, billing, security, analytics, and the general operation of Omphalis. Where a business or other customer determines the purposes and means of processing content through a separate commercial arrangement, Voxiven LLC may process that content as a data processor on that customer's instructions.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account and Authentication Information

When you create or use an Omphalis account, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Authentication and session information
  • Login timestamps
  • IP address and security-related identifiers
  • Account status and subscription plan
  • Information you provide in connection with support or account recovery

Authentication is provided through Auth0. We use authentication information to create and secure your account, maintain sessions, prevent unauthorized access, and detect fraud or abuse.

3.2 Content and Library Information

When you save, upload, capture, subscribe to, or otherwise process content through Omphalis, we may collect and store:

  • Articles, web pages, and other written content
  • PDFs and other uploaded files
  • EPUBs, documents, and text files
  • Podcast episodes, audio files, and transcripts
  • Videos, video URLs, transcripts, and timestamp information
  • YouTube channel subscriptions and saved videos
  • RSS and Atom feed URLs
  • Newsletter subscriptions and related content
  • Meeting transcripts and voice-note recordings or transcripts
  • Images and other files you choose to save
  • Titles, URLs, authors, publication dates, and other source metadata
  • Reading status, bookmarks, stars, highlights, and saved snippets
  • Collections, folders, tags, and other organizational information
  • Creation, modification, and access dates
  • Search history and library queries where retained to provide the service

We retain library content until you delete it, subject to the retention and deletion provisions in Section 12.

3.3 Content Extraction and Cleaning

When you use Omphalis to save or process content, we may analyze the relevant source to:

  • Remove advertising, navigation elements, clutter, and unrelated formatting
  • Extract readable text from web pages, PDFs, documents, transcripts, audio, or video
  • Reformat content for reading, searching, listening, or analysis
  • Preserve relevant source structure and metadata

The source content is processed to provide the requested result and to make the content available in your Omphalis library.

3.4 Structural Analysis

Omphalis analyzes content to identify and present its structure. Depending on the type and length of the source, this may include:

  • Argument flow and major ideas
  • Information-density maps
  • Dense or difficult moments
  • Natural-pause splitting
  • Speaker identification or diarization
  • Typed moments such as INTRO, INSIGHT, DEEP DIVE, STORY, TIP, and RESEARCH
  • Relationships between sections, claims, examples, and supporting material
  • Structural information derived from podcast, audio, and video transcripts

For video and audio content, processing may involve transcription, timestamp alignment, speaker diarization, natural-pause analysis, and language-model analysis of the resulting transcript or related text.

These outputs are generated for your library and are associated with the source content from which they were derived.

3.5 Intelligent Annotations

Omphalis may generate optional comprehension annotations, including:

  • Source: indications that a claim may benefit from checking its supporting source
  • Define: explanations of terms or concepts
  • Expand: additional context or related information

Annotations are designed to be selective and are generally generated only where the system determines that they may assist comprehension. Omphalis uses a confidence threshold, currently 0.8, when determining whether to present an annotation. Confidence thresholds do not guarantee that an annotation is accurate.

3.6 User-Marked Annotations and Insights

You may mark paragraphs, sentences, timestamps, highlights, snippets, claims, or other moments as points of interest. You may also add notes, tags, voice notes, or other personal observations.

These user-marked annotations and insights are first-class data in Omphalis. They may be used to:

  • Preserve your personal reading and listening history
  • Organize and retrieve your library
  • Search for ideas and moments you previously marked
  • Identify connections between your saved content
  • Tailor the understanding profile described in Section 3.8
  • Provide features that depend on your own selected insights

You retain ownership of your user-marked annotations, notes, and insights. They are not sold, used to create advertising profiles, or used to train language models.

3.7 Contextual Connections

Omphalis may compare content, metadata, structural outputs, and user-marked insights within your library to identify:

  • Related ideas across different files
  • Repeated themes
  • Potential contradictions
  • Cross-domain patterns
  • References to similar claims or concepts
  • Other connections that may help you understand or revisit your content

These connections are generated for your account and are based on the content and insights available within your library and the permissions associated with your account.

3.8 Understanding Profile

To personalize the service, Omphalis may maintain a small, structured understanding profile derived from how you use your own library. This may include:

  • Topics you return to
  • Abstract labels and associated weights
  • Signals about how you read
  • Signals about what you appear to be working toward
  • Preferences inferred from your use of Omphalis features

The understanding profile is designed to contain abstract labels and weights rather than the underlying text of your saved content. You can view the entries in this profile through Settings and delete individual entries. Deletion takes effect immediately in the profile used to personalize your experience, subject to ordinary technical and backup processes.

The understanding profile:

  • Is used only to tailor your Omphalis experience
  • Is not sold
  • Is not used to create an advertising profile
  • Is not used for targeted advertising
  • Is not used to train language models

3.9 Generated Outputs and Audio

Omphalis may create outputs based on content in your library, including:

  • Cleaned and reformatted text
  • Structural maps
  • Information-density indicators
  • Transcripts
  • Speaker labels
  • Timestamps and natural-pause divisions
  • Intelligent annotations
  • Connection suggestions
  • Search indexes and embeddings
  • Voice-note or meeting transcripts
  • Audio generated through listening or text-to-speech features

These outputs may be stored with the relevant library item so that you can access, search, edit, export, or delete them.

3.10 Search Indexes and Embeddings

To support exact search, semantic search, and contextual connections, Omphalis may create search indexes and vector embeddings. An embedding is a numerical representation derived from content that helps identify semantic similarity.

Embeddings and related indexes may be derived from:

  • Saved content
  • Transcripts
  • Notes
  • User-marked insights
  • Structural analysis
  • Other information in your library

Embeddings are used to provide search and connection features for your account. They are not sold, used for advertising, or used to train third-party language models.

3.11 Browser Extension Information

If you use the Omphalis browser extension, we may collect:

  • URLs and titles of pages you choose to save
  • Text snippets you select and choose to save
  • The collection or destination you select
  • Extension settings
  • Technical information necessary to operate and secure the extension

The extension does not treat every page you view as saved content. Content is processed as part of Omphalis when you choose to save or submit it.

3.12 Mobile Application Information

If you use an Omphalis mobile application, we may collect:

  • Device type
  • Operating system and version
  • Application version
  • Application lifecycle events
  • Screen views and navigation patterns
  • Push-notification tokens, used only to deliver notifications
  • Technical information needed to provide, secure, and troubleshoot the application

Push-notification tokens are not sold or shared for advertising purposes.

3.13 Technical, Usage, and Diagnostic Information

We may collect:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Device type and screen resolution
  • Approximate technical identifiers
  • Access and error logs
  • Feature usage
  • Page views and navigation patterns
  • Performance information
  • Security events
  • Crash reports
  • Information about how you interact with Omphalis

We use this information to provide, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.

3.14 Payment and Transaction Information

Paid subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Stripe. We may receive information such as:

  • Subscription status
  • Product or plan purchased
  • Billing country or region
  • Transaction identifiers
  • Payment status
  • Invoice information
  • Limited payment details provided by Stripe

We do not ordinarily receive or store your full payment-card number. Payment information is handled according to Stripe's terms and privacy policy.

3.15 Communications

If you contact us or receive communications from us, we may collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • The contents of your inquiry
  • Support history
  • Feedback
  • Product requests
  • Other information you voluntarily provide

We use this information to respond to you, provide support, administer the service, and address security or legal matters.

4. How We Use Information

We use personal data and content as necessary to:

  • Create, authenticate, and secure accounts
  • Provide access to Omphalis features
  • Import, extract, clean, format, and store content
  • Process articles, PDFs, documents, podcasts, audio, and video
  • Generate transcripts, speaker labels, timestamps, and natural-pause divisions
  • Analyze argument flow, information density, and dense moments
  • Generate optional intelligent annotations
  • Preserve and retrieve user-marked insights
  • Search, organize, and connect content within a user's library
  • Generate audio and provide listening features
  • Maintain and personalize the understanding profile
  • Provide browser-extension and mobile-app functionality
  • Process subscriptions, purchases, and billing
  • Respond to support requests
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot errors
  • Understand feature usage and improve the service
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce our agreements
  • Communicate with users about the service, including material changes

We do not use your library content, user-marked insights, embeddings, structural outputs, or generated comprehension layers to train language models.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases.

5.1 Contract Performance

We process information when necessary to provide the services you request, including:

  • Account creation and authentication
  • Content storage and processing
  • Search and contextual connections
  • Structural analysis and annotations
  • Audio and listening features
  • Subscription management
  • Customer support relating to the service

5.2 Legitimate Interests

We may process information based on our legitimate interests in:

  • Securing and protecting the service
  • Preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Troubleshooting and improving reliability
  • Measuring product performance
  • Maintaining business records
  • Enforcing our terms
  • Defending or exercising legal rights

When relying on legitimate interests, we consider and balance those interests against your rights and expectations.

We may rely on consent for optional activities, including:

  • Certain analytics or marketing cookies
  • Optional product analytics or session recording where consent is required
  • Marketing communications
  • Other optional features identified at the time of collection

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

We may process information when necessary to comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, law-enforcement, or other legal obligations.

6. Artificial Intelligence and Third-Party Processing

6.1 AI Processing

To provide structural analysis, annotations, comprehension layers, transcription, speech synthesis, video processing, contextual connections, and related features, relevant content may be processed by language-model, transcription, speech, optical-character-recognition, or artificial-intelligence providers.

The content sent to a provider may include the portion of an article, document, transcript, audio recording, video transcript, note, or other material necessary to provide the requested feature. We seek to limit transfers to the information reasonably necessary for that purpose.

6.2 AI Providers and No-Training Commitments

Depending on the feature, content may be processed through:

  • Anthropic API, under a commercial arrangement, for structural analysis, annotations, and related comprehension features
  • OpenAI API, using a paid tier, for comprehension, embedding, and related features
  • Cloudflare Workers AI, for retrieval, feed discovery, and structural analysis
  • Microsoft Azure AI Speech, for text-to-speech synthesis in listening features
  • Deepgram, for speech-to-text transcription of audio and video
  • Mistral, for optical character recognition and text extraction from PDFs and scanned documents
  • Other providers added in accordance with this Policy and our vendor-review processes

Our contractual arrangements with the providers used in our processing pipeline require that user content not be used to train their general-purpose models. Omphalis also does not use user content or user-marked insights to train language models.

These providers may process content temporarily to return the requested result, subject to their contractual obligations, security measures, and applicable retention terms. Where a provider's service is used for transcription, speech synthesis, optical character recognition, or another specialized function, only the information reasonably required for that function is sent.

6.3 Self-Hosted Speech Processing

Kokoro is self-hosted by Omphalis and used for some text-to-speech narration. Content processed through our self-hosted Kokoro deployment is not transferred to a third-party Kokoro provider.

6.4 AI-Generated Results

AI-generated results may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate. Omphalis does not guarantee that a transcript, structural analysis, annotation, connection, density indicator, summary, definition, or other generated output is accurate or complete.

You should review generated outputs against the original source, particularly before relying on them for legal, medical, financial, academic, employment, safety, or other important decisions.

7. Third-Party Services

We use selected service providers to operate, secure, analyze, and support Omphalis.

7.1 Auth0

Auth0 provides identity and access management. Information shared may include:

  • Email address
  • Authentication information
  • Session information
  • Security-related account data

7.2 Stripe

Stripe processes subscriptions, purchases, invoices, and payment transactions. Stripe may receive payment and billing information necessary to process a transaction and comply with applicable obligations.

7.3 PostHog

PostHog provides product analytics, feature flags, and session replay. Information shared may include:

  • A user or account identifier
  • Page views
  • Click events
  • Navigation patterns
  • Device and browser information
  • Session recordings of interactions

Text inputs and sensitive fields are masked. Session recordings are intended to capture interaction patterns such as mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling, not the contents of sensitive inputs. Data is routed through an Omphalis-controlled reverse proxy and stored on PostHog Cloud in the United States.

You may opt out of analytics and session recording through available controls, browser settings, an ad blocker, or by contacting us.

7.4 Datadog

Datadog provides application performance monitoring, error tracking, and real-user monitoring. Information shared may include:

  • A user or account identifier
  • Page views, navigation patterns, and interaction events
  • Browser, device, and performance information
  • Error reports and stack traces
  • Server-side application traces and operational logs
  • Session recordings of interactions, captured for a sample of sessions

User input is masked by default in session recordings. We configure Datadog so that the text of your saved library content is not intentionally included in monitoring data.

7.5 Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used on the Omphalis marketing website for page-view and related website analytics. It is not used to analyze the contents of your Omphalis library. Where required, analytics cookies are controlled through the applicable cookie-consent mechanism.

7.6 Service Providers and Professional Advisers

We may share information with service providers, contractors, hosting providers, security providers, accountants, auditors, insurers, lawyers, and other professional advisers where they need the information to provide services to Omphalis or protect our legal rights.

These parties are required to process information under appropriate contractual, confidentiality, and security obligations.

We may disclose information:

  • To comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request
  • To protect the rights, safety, property, or security of Omphalis, our users, or others
  • To investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • To enforce our agreements
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar business transaction

8. MCP and Outside Assistant Connections

Omphalis supports connections to outside assistants and clients through MCP and similar integrations. Examples may include the ChatGPT application or another client that connects to your Omphalis library.

When you authorize or use such a connection:

  • The outside assistant may request information from your Omphalis library
  • Omphalis may send the requested content, metadata, search results, annotations, connections, or other permitted information to that assistant
  • The scope of information transferred depends on the request, integration, permissions, and settings
  • Omphalis may receive requests and responses necessary to operate the connection
  • Information transferred to the outside assistant is subject to that assistant's privacy policy, terms, retention practices, and use of data

You should review the privacy terms of an outside assistant before connecting it to Omphalis. Omphalis does not control how an outside assistant handles information after it has been transferred to that assistant.

9. Cookies and Local Storage

Omphalis uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for the following purposes.

9.1 Essential Authentication

Session cookies and related technologies help keep you signed in and maintain account security. These are used in connection with Auth0 and core Omphalis functionality.

9.2 Preferences

Local storage may preserve settings such as:

  • Theme selection
  • Last visited page
  • Reader preferences
  • Layout choices
  • Listening preferences
  • Other interface settings

9.3 Analytics

PostHog and Datadog may use cookies and local storage to measure product usage, operate feature flags, monitor performance, and provide session replay. Google Analytics may use cookies on the marketing website for website analytics.

You may clear cookies and local storage through your browser or device settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect authentication and core functionality. Where required, optional analytics cookies are controlled through a cookie-consent mechanism.

10. Data Sharing, Sale, and Advertising

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share your library content, user-marked insights, embeddings, understanding profile, or generated comprehension outputs for targeted advertising.

We do not use your content to build an advertising profile. We do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may share limited technical or usage information with analytics and infrastructure providers as described in this Policy. These providers process information to provide services to Omphalis and not to sell your library content.

11. Data Storage and Security

We maintain technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data and user content, including:

  • Encryption at rest
  • Encryption in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • Per-user data isolation
  • Randomized user identifiers and UUIDs
  • Access controls
  • Monitoring and error detection
  • Security and abuse-prevention controls
  • Backups and recovery procedures
  • Periodic review of vendors and processing arrangements

Application content and metadata are encrypted before being written to storage where supported by the applicable system. Encryption keys are held as managed secrets with restricted access, and key material is not exposed to client applications.

No security system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and should notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

12. Data Retention and Deletion

12.1 Library and User Content

Library items, collections, feed subscriptions, saved files, transcripts, generated outputs, user-marked annotations, insights, and related metadata are retained until you delete them or request deletion.

12.2 Account Information

Account data is retained while your account remains active. We may delete or deactivate accounts that have been inactive for an extended period, and we will give you advance notice by email before doing so, subject to information that must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes. You may also delete your account at any time from Settings.

12.3 Logs

Operational and security logs are generally retained for 90 days, unless a longer period is necessary for security investigations, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or protection of the service.

12.4 Analytics and Diagnostic Data

Analytics and diagnostic information may be retained according to the applicable provider's configuration, contractual requirements, and legitimate operational needs. We seek to limit retention to what is reasonably necessary.

12.5 Provider Processing

AI, transcription, speech, and text-extraction providers process relevant content to return the requested result. Our contractual arrangements require no training on user content and apply applicable deletion or retention restrictions. Processing and deletion timing may vary by provider and feature.

12.6 Backups

Deleted information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until the applicable backup is overwritten or securely deleted. We may retain limited information where necessary to comply with law, prevent fraud or abuse, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or protect security.

13. Data Export

You may export your Omphalis library through the available export functionality. Export may include your saved content, notes, user-marked annotations, insights, metadata, and other available library information in open or commonly usable formats.

Export availability and the exact contents of an export may vary by feature and technical limitations. Contact us at hello@omphalis.ai if you need assistance with an export request.

14. International Data Transfers

Omphalis primarily stores and processes application data through EU-based infrastructure where available. Some service providers, including PostHog Cloud, Datadog, and certain AI, authentication, payment, analytics, or infrastructure providers, may process information in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or another jurisdiction that requires a transfer mechanism, we rely on an applicable lawful mechanism, which may include:

  • An adequacy decision of the European Commission
  • The EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified and the transfer is covered by that framework
  • The European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses
  • Appropriate supplementary measures where required
  • Another lawful transfer mechanism recognized under applicable data-protection law

We assess relevant international transfers and require appropriate contractual and security protections for service providers. You may contact us to request information about the safeguards applicable to a particular transfer.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights:

  • Access personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of personal data
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Request portability of certain personal data
  • Object to direct marketing
  • Opt out of analytics tracking and session recording
  • Request information about third-party recipients and international transfers
  • Request information about automated processing
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory or regulatory authority

You may exercise certain rights through the GDPR Rights Center in your account settings. You may also contact us at hello@omphalis.ai.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will use verification information only for the purpose of handling and securing the request, unless another lawful basis applies.

We aim to respond within 30 days. Where the GDPR applies, we will respond without undue delay and generally within one month. For complex or multiple requests, applicable law may allow an extension of up to two additional months. If an extension is necessary, we will notify you within the initial response period and explain the reason.

16. California and United States Privacy Rights

This section applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, or other applicable United States privacy law applies.

16.1 Categories of Personal Information

During the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers, such as email address, account identifiers, IP address, and device identifiers
  • Commercial information, such as subscription and purchase history
  • Internet or other electronic network activity, such as page views, feature usage, and navigation patterns
  • Geolocation-related information that may be inferred from IP address or provided by a device
  • Audio, visual, or similar information that you choose to upload or process
  • Professional or educational information contained in content you submit
  • Inferences, such as abstract topic labels and weights in your understanding profile
  • Other information you voluntarily provide or that is reasonably capable of being associated with you

Content submitted to Omphalis may contain additional categories of information, including sensitive personal information. We process such information only as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service, secure the service, comply with law, or for another permitted purpose.

16.2 California Rights

Subject to applicable exceptions and verification requirements, California residents may have the right to:

  • Know or access categories and specific pieces of personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Obtain information about the categories of sources, purposes, and recipients
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
  • Limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information
  • Receive equal treatment for exercising privacy rights

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you for advertising purposes.

We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

17. Automated Decision-Making

Omphalis uses artificial intelligence to generate structural analyses, annotations, connections, transcripts, search results, and other comprehension outputs.

These outputs are intended to assist your reading, research, and information-management activities. Omphalis does not use these outputs to make decisions about your eligibility for employment, credit, housing, insurance, education, government benefits, or other decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

You may contact us with questions about automated processing or request information about the principal features of the processing where required by applicable law.

18. Children's Privacy

Omphalis is not directed to children under 13 years of age.

In the European Union, Omphalis is not directed to children under 16. The applicable age may be lower where the law of the relevant EU Member State permits a lower age for consent to information-society services, but not below the legally permitted minimum.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable age. If you believe that a child has provided personal data to Omphalis, contact us at hello@omphalis.ai. We will take reasonable steps to investigate and delete the information where required.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, legal obligations, vendors, or privacy practices.

If we make a material change, we will provide notice through the service, by email, or by another legally permitted method. The updated policy will include a revised effective date.
