This page states every commercial relationship that could shape what you read on omphalis.ai. It is short because there are not many.
How Omphalis makes money
Subscriptions, and nothing else. People pay a monthly fee for a plan; that is the entire revenue model. See the pricing page for what each plan costs and includes. There is no advertising on this site, we do not sell your data, and there is no free tier funded by anything other than the paid plans.
Affiliate links
There are none. No link on this site earns Omphalis a commission, referral fee, or any other payment when you click it or buy something at the other end.
If that ever changes, the disclosure will appear on the page carrying the link, above the link itself, not buried here.
The directory badges
The startup-directory badges in the footer of every page (BetaList, Startup Fame, PostYourStartup, ValidateHunt, Nick Launches, Scoutforge, and the rest) link to free listings of Omphalis on those sites. No money moves in either direction and clicking one earns us nothing. They are there because a directory that lists us is a third-party record that we exist, and linking back is the convention those directories ask for — several of them check the homepage for their badge and drop the listing when it is missing, which is why they sit in the footer rather than on one page.
Three of the badges in the “Listed on” section of the press page are the exception: those placements were paid for. We paid the directory to be listed. We did not pay for a rating, a review, a ranking, or a favourable write-up, and no commission comes back either way. They are kept on that one page and out of the footer for the same reason the page carries no “as seen on” wall. The fourth badge in that section, Dang, is a free listing like the ones in the footer; it is on the press page rather than in the footer because that is the URL its review reads.
Comparison pages
The pages comparing Omphalis to other products (Compare, vs Readwise, vs NotebookLM, vs Heptabase) are written by us about our own product. We are not a neutral reviewer and you should not read them as one.
What we do commit to: every claim about another product is checked against that product’s own public documentation or pricing page at the time of writing, we do not describe a competitor’s feature as missing when it exists, and we are not paid by anyone to be compared favourably. Other products change, and a claim can go out of date without anyone noticing. If you find one that has, tell us and we will correct it.
Reviews and ratings
We ask people who have used Omphalis to describe their experience. Feedback should reflect what happened, including what did not work. The feedback program described below can include a subscription benefit; it does not depend on giving a positive rating.
Testimonials
Quotes attributed to users on this site come from real people who used the product and are published with their permission. Eligible participants in our feedback program can receive a month of subscription access or a billing credit, depending on their plan. Eligibility does not depend on the rating or whether the feedback is positive. An incentive should be disclosed wherever a testimonial from that program is published.
Who writes this site
The pages here are written by the Omphalis team; see about. Posts on the blog are house content published under the Omphalis name rather than signed essays, and are marked as such in their attribution.
